This is an experimental interface created by Tim Sherratt during his time as Creative Technologist-in-Residence at the State Library of Victoria Lab.

The data was compiled by harvesting details of Victorian newspapers with place names in the 'Place newspaper published' field from the SLV catalogue. These place names were matched against the VicNames database to find their coordinates.

This data was then checked against a dataset of places where Trove's digitised newspapers were published or distributed. Any Victorian titles missing from the catalogue data were added.
